Recognizing our Social Workers

March 7, 2023
March marks Social Work Month, so what better time to recognize two of our incredible Social Workers? Social Work is best defined as trained professionals devoted to helping vulnerable people and communities work through challenges they face in everyday life. These professionals improve the quality of life of our residents and families, helping to guide them through the nursing home transition.

"As we lose ourselves in the service of others, we discover our own lives and our own happiness."

Meet Nicole Goodenow

"I am from South Carolina and have been an Ohio resident for just over ten years. I attended Charleston Job Corps for Business Management in 2006 and later attended Kent State Ashtabula for my associate's degree. I look forward to attending Kent State again soon to obtain my LSW.

Becoming a Social Worker is something I felt a calling for, as I have always wanted to be able to make a difference in others' lives. I love learning about others and helping them find ways to overcome the challenges they are going through. As a Social Worker, I know I can do this in a caring and supportive way. I also see it as an opportunity to improve the lives of society's most vulnerable people by being a voice and helping them build a great life for themselves and/or their families. I am a wife to my amazing husband, Josh, and mother to our three young men, Michael, Aidan, and Vincent. I love nature, photography, hiking, and traveling with my family. In my off time, I am usually at a sporting event for my children."

Meet Cindy Pratt

"I have been employed at Jefferson Healthcare Center since May 2021, after having been with Foundations since 2014, working in multiple departments over the years. Here at Jefferson, I served as the Social Services Designee for two years and became our Admissions Director in September 2022. I currently assist residents being admitted into the facility by helping them get familiar with their surroundings, explaining how to apply for insurance and the specific processes, and screening residents for depression or other issues.

Originally from Mentor, Ohio, I now live here in Ashtabula County. I love spending time with my family. I really enjoy being in the great outdoors, and we can often be found camping in the warmer weather. In the picture above, I am holding a recent addition to our facility, Snowflake, our nine-month-old therapy dog. She has received quite a warm welcome from our residents, and they look forward to seeing her as we make our daily rounds of the building. Snowflake brings all the smiles!"
